Hello! I’m John Weeks, developing innovative fundraising and communication strategies in Southeast Asia.

I particularly relish the challenge of growing nonprofit infrastructure. I’ve founded Our Books, Our Books Illustration and Design, House32 Web Design, and assisted in getting Open Development Cambodia and the ICT4 Cambodia Development Network off the ground.

I serve on the boards of Open Development Cambodia, Our Books, Nou Hach Literary Journal, and arts ‘think tank’ Sang Salapak.

I frequently teach at varied tech events, and enjoy sharing my interests via blogging, cartooning and varied writing. My opinions on art, culture, and technology are cited in publications ranging from Time and USA Today to Punk Planet.

Please feel free to get in touch.

Half of humanity – HALF OF HUMANITY – experiences an entirely natural bodily function 3-7 days out of EVERY MONTH for FORTY YEARS OF THEIR LIVES and we have to hide it, lie about it, pay through our noses to deal with it, & be treated as literal pariahs, all over the world.

Been pondering why this poster's so striking, & I think it's this: like vintage minibus-inspired signs & traditional calendar-style flyers, the retro HK aesthetic taps collective memory & conveys a sense of things past that need to be restored. What are those things? Freedoms. https://t.co/xcGMDTzp4h pic.twitter.com/bhlL5ocNjF

Cost of Trump's bailout for farmers: $28B

Cost of Obama's bailout for automakers: $12B

Trump and Republicans in Congress hate government subsidies offered by Democrats, but love them when they suit their political agenda.

A lot of the time I think the absolute worst thing about this country — maybe more than racism, if by a hair — is its reflexive viciousness toward the poor. https://t.co/cMlhlQvhhl

Rent is basically just a tax that poor people pay to rich people in order to live in society.

The number of black farmers in America has been steadily declining since the 1920s. Black farmers once made up 14 percent of America's farmers. Today, they account for less than 2 percent. What happened? https://t.co/ofzHVBLDjI pic.twitter.com/CIoavkvNZ8

What would your supermarket would look like on socialism?
This is the fanciest “supermarket” in Havana.
Notice anything odd?
Aisles are filled with goods having NO VARIETY AT ALL.
No competition
No choice
No hope
